Dog-Friendly Cottages

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

dog-playing-on-beachYou love to travel. And you love your dog. Why not combine the two? Many of the cottages at Firefly Resort are dog-friendly.

Here’s our pet policy:

  • Well behaved pets are welcomed in some cottages. Pets are required to be kept on a leash and you are required to pick-up after them. There is one (1) pet maximum per applicable cottage.
  • For our pet visitors there is an additional $50 refundable deposit and a $30 per stay cleaning charge.
  • We also hope you will not leave your pet for hours alone in the cottage. Your pets know they are on vacation and get upset when left alone for long periods.

If you’re new to traveling with your dog, here are a few tips:

  • Put your cell phone number on your dog’s ID tags.
  • Make sure your dog is up-to-date on any vaccines.
  • Pack extra water, especially if traveling during warm weather.
  • Be sure to include a first aid kit in addition to your dog’s favorite toys, bed, bowls and food.

Here are a few of our pet-friendly cottages:

Shops in Harbor CountryThe towns around Firefly Resort offer an abundance of shopping options. From boutique shops full of clothes and special trinkets to surf & beach items and antique malls with one-of-a-kind treasures,  there’s something for everyone in Harbor Country!

One can spend an entire weekend shopping in the numerous boutiques. Some of our favorites include Whittaker House in New Buffalo.

If you love the surf and beach lifestyle, a shopping trip to New Buffalo’s Third Coast Surf Shop is in order.

Whether you’re shopping for furniture, art work, jewelry or unique collectibles, the many antique shops and malls along the Red Arrow Highway are paradise for a day of antiquing. The Dunes Antique Center, in Sawyer, houses 70 antique dealers and is a great start for your shopping.

Harbor Country can provide your ultimate shopping getaway and the Firefly Resort is in the center of it all. Spend the day searching for special treasures and then come back to relax in a charming cottage for the night. It’s a perfect pairing.

Fall is just starting to arrive at the Firefly Resort!

This area in southwest Michigan is full of boutiques and galleries where you can get a head start on your holiday shopping. If you’re searching for treasures, you’re sure to find some in the numerous antique malls and shops along Red Arrow Highway.

The cooler, crisp temperatures are perfect for hiking or riding your bike on one of the many trails in nearby parks. Head to the beach for a walk and then catch a gorgeous sunset across Lake Michigan.

Equally as good as the view of the sunset will be that of the colorful fall foliage. Red, yellow and orange leaves will surround the cottages and color all of Michigan’s Harbor Country.

Here’s what you can expect in the upcoming weeks:
